I should document that I went to see Bill Bailey's "Remarkable Guide to the Orchestra" last week. It was great fun! It basically consisted of Bill Bailey doing a gig but with the whole of the BBC Concert orchestra for him to mess with. Oh and just to put the icing on the bagel, it was in the Albert Hall.

Some of this boiled down to him playing some of his normal comedy songs but with extra orchestra oomph, but really that was just filling. The real fun was him playing around with the orchestra, getting them to do an orchestral score for an episode of east-enders or inserting cockney music into the "original" east end versions of classical music pieces.

Probably my favorite (but hardest to covey in text) sequences was him narrating the events of a 70's cop show whilst the orchestra backed him up with amazing 72 piece comic timing!

Also blog-worthy is the fantastic 80's curry that we enjoyed afterwards (well ok the music was 80's the curry was quite fresh). Can't remember the details but next time I find myself in the Albert Hall I must remember to go back there.

Oh he's got a tour going on early next month (tinselworm) so London people, we should get some tickets for that! (ahem).

I have never seen Bill Bailey except on TV so I am definitely up for that!

alternative Eastenders music, cockney classical, and 70s cop show narrative are already staples of Bill's repertoire.

Tinselworm was quite good fun. I particularly enjoyed Kant's Categorical Imperative sang to the tune of Match of the Day.

Yeah he does tend to repeat material, all of the songs were repeats from old sketches. But this was very forgivable in this case given the additional fun that an orchestra brings :)

Glad to hear Tinselworm is good, I'll have to resist grabbing the DVD until I've totally failed to organise myself into seeing it live.

See you when we arrive back oop north!

Yeah, the addition of an orchestra would be great to see. Tinselworm isn't as good as Part Troll objectively speaking - but since I saw it live it was subjectively an excellent experience.

See you imminently!
