The move to laaandon thing is kinda evolving. Looks like the boss is going to rent us a flat for a bit, somewhere pretty damn central. Should be fun/expensive for a while. In other news, there isn't any. Dull, dull, dull. Hence my making stick men out of magnets.some stuff about consoles
Umm.. There was a story in the Metro of all places today saying that the PS3 is going to be twice as fast as the xbox 360 and cost about the same amount of mula. Perhaps their not the best people to analyse this stuff but what I've seen of the two definatly favours the cell-processory-goodness, PS3 gets double the flops of the xbox on total floating point performance.The xbox has more ram, but thats probably for putting bloaty M$ windows stuff in, Their being launched at a similar price. Who the hell is going to buy an Xbox?
I mean in the current scenario the xbox is more powerful than the PS2, so maybe theres an argument despite the oh-my-god-its-bigger-than-a-betamax-machine factor, and the isnt-it-just-a-crap-pc factor. But once it looses it's performance edge, what exactly is it going to have? DirectX?
The most amusing thing from the Metros point by point was backward compatibily. PS3 can play all PS1 and PS2 games. The xbox 360 has the amusingly vaugue abilty to play the most popular xbox titles. Read into that what you will. I read that Sony has done their traditional previous-console-onna-chip cleverness and Microsoft have done their traditional vaugely-support-our-old-api-a-bit-and-let-the-users-chance-it fudge.
Am I coming across as biast? Maaybe. I am sure I'll try an Xbox 360, after all the xbox division is as good as a different company now and M$ do outsource-make some good hardware (well mice) so maybe the xbox 360 will be great even if it's slow as hell next to a PS3. Maybe their easy software api will give them better games than the PS3. But on what we know now I'm not just saying I'll try a PS3, I'm drooling to get my hands on one.
grumble/update: PS3 portal seems to have gone down since I posted this so you may get a dead image where the PS3 controller image should be..
and finally
I can't believe that I bought that chicken thing. Looking at it now it seems obvious, but it is very, very clever.
