Yikes. Richard morgan is really churning them out nowadays:

Anyone read Market Forces yet? I might get it for when I go on holiday.. I didn't think Broken Angels was as good as Altered Carbon, but I am still intregued to know "what happens next" which must be a good sign..

Still I get the feeling that Kovacs could just go though books and books being slightly smug and superior ex-envoy...

Yikes.

I finally weakened and watched the leaked first episode of series 27 of Doctor Who..

Overall I liked it. Eccleston seemed to start a little ropilly but soon picked up and was defiantly engaging me by the end. The effects aren't just better, but being used effectively to give the monsters extra dimension, which is nice.

My main worry is the way the whole plot was wrapped in an episode. I guess Russell T Davis did well to get the BBC to agree to thirteen episodes ( he had to ransom them by saying that it was the only way he would move to the BBC ), so to get them to agree to enough to justify the old multiple episodes per story, each with a cliffhanger format would have been tough. I just hope that they do some multi-parters as this was something doctor who did literally decades before other sci-fi series properly caught on. Having said that, there were some hints of a possible story-arc (not going to mention what I think that is, for fear of spoilers ) which would make up for the lessening of depth that one-episode storys would bring...

Anyway. Format analysis aside t'was good and I am looking forward to see where they go with the next twelve episodes.
